Mbogi Genje on Sunday silenced their biggest critic, moral cop Ezekiel Mutua after clinching the 2020 group of the year award at the Kisima awards.
The group was nominated in the Male artist/ Group of the year in East Africa alongside Sauti Sol, Diamond Platnumz, Meddy and Daddy Andre.
Mbogi Genje managed to scoop the top award in an event sponsored by the Kenya Film Classification Board headed by Ezekiel Mutua.
A few weeks ago, Ezekiel Mutua called out the sheng masters over their music content.
According to a post shared on twitter, Mutua asked is parents of the Mbogi Genje crew members are proud of what their sons sing.
“Those kids who do Kidungi and Mbogi Genje or whatever, whose kids are these? Are their parents proud of them? Those kids who sing dirty things or post their n…des on social media, whose kids are they? Don’t they have parents?” Mutua wrote.
In November, the Pan African Kisima Music & Film Awards 2020 received a heavy boost after signing a Ksh.5 million partnership with the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
The partnership included a Ksh.1 million award to a winner in one of the film categories that embraces KFCB’s mandate of promoting clean content.
The remaining amount aimed at boosting Kisima awards broadcast package and logistical support.
