An MCA and his personal assistant are among 17 people who were rounded up at a local joint in Nyeri on Friday night.
According to Nyeri Central Sub-County Police Commander Paul Kuria, Rware ward MCA and sixteen others were rounded up while having drinks at a guest house known as Laquizine in King’ong’o area.
The police commander said they were alerted by residents in the neighbourhood as the revelers were flouting a directive for closure of all bars across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The group will be charged and subjected to a mandatory 14 day quarantine at their own coast.
It is alleged that several other MCAs escaped arrest but the police boss said they are processing the suspects to establish if there were other accomplices.
