A section of mechanics in Shauri Moyo area has vowed to block a private developer from grabbing a land they have been using as their garage.
The mechanics claim that the private developer has threatened to forcefully evict them from the land they have been using for more than 30 years.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio news the mechanics claim that more than 60 mechanics earn their living from their garage.
“We are not going to allow them to build anything here, where do they want all these families to go? These are families with children who have stomachs,” lamented one mechanic.
“We are going to spend the nights here, if that is what it will take to protect this piece of land. We want the area MP and MCA to please come forward and help us address this issue,” he stated.
They also claim that they cannot also authenticate the papers the private developer has presented claiming ownership of the land.
