Inter Miami CF secured a 4-2 victory over CF Montréal in a thrilling Major League Soccer (MLS) game at Chase Stadium on Wednesday night, May 29, 2025. 

Team captain Lionel Messi and star forward Luis Suárez each scored two goals, leading Inter Miami to the win.

The game started with challenges for Inter Miami. Two players left the game early due to injuries, forcing the team to make changes before halftime. Despite these setbacks, Inter Miami showed strong determination and took control of the match. 

Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute. Midfielder Sergio Busquets won the ball and passed it to Messi, who skillfully moved past defenders and fired a powerful left-footed shot into the net. This goal was Messi’s seventh of the season, making him the team’s top scorer so far.

In the second half, Inter Miami continued to press forward. In the 68th minute, goalkeeper Óscar Ustari made two important saves against shots from Montréal. Soon after, Messi set up Suárez, who scored with a strong kick. 

This was Suárez’s third goal of the season. Just three minutes later, Suárez scored again after a mistake by a Montréal defender, quickly putting the ball in from close range. 

Montréal managed to get a goal back in the 74th minute through Dante Sealy. However, Inter Miami quickly responded.

In the 87th minute, Messi and Suárez exchanged passes, with Messi ultimately lifting the ball over the goalkeeper for his second goal of the night, bringing his season total to eight. 

Montréal scored one more time in added time with Victor Loturi, but Inter Miami held on for the 4-2 win.

Coach Javier Mascherano expressed his satisfaction after the game. “This win shows we are a true team,” he stated. 

“We faced tough moments, but we stayed together. This will make us even better.” Inter Miami’s next game is against Columbus Crew on Saturday, May 31, at Chase Stadium.
