On Wednesday, Lionel Messi scored for PSG in a match against Montpellier which ended 3-1 and this win earned PSG 3 points increasing their chances of winning the league.
That was Lionel Messi’s 697th goal of his career which surpasses the record of Cristiano Ronaldo of 696 career goals. He achieved it in 84 games less than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Before the game between Montpellier and PSG ,Messi had 696 goals in his career, scoring 13 goals for PSG this season.
Ronaldo might fail to reclaim his throne if he decides to stay in Al Nassr rather than returning to a club in Europe’s top five leagues where there’s more live action for a player like him.
Ronaldo scored 450 goals while at Real Madrid, 145 while at Manchester United and 101 while in Juventus in Italy.
At the height of their careers, Messi and Ronaldo spent nine seasons duelling while playing for rival clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain .
With 76 major trophies combined, Messi having 42 and Ronaldo having 34, this makes them two of the most awarded players in football history.
