The Argentina captain commenced with training for PSG on Wednesday after being given an extended break following the World Cup in Qatar.

The World Cup winner spent the festive season with family in his home country following the triumph over France in the final World Cup match.

The PSG players and staff made sure to welcome the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner back home with warm applause as they lined up to give him a guard of honour on their training pitch. The scene was captured by the club’s social media team .

Messi gave gratitude to the PSG players and staff and said he was ready to start off with the second half of the 2022/23 season.

Attention now turns to local duels with PSG under pressure to win the league title. They are only four points ahead after a 3-1 humiliating defeat to second placed Lens on January 1st.

On 11th PSG face bottom placed Angers and on 15th they meet fourth placed Rennes. It is expected that Messi will play all the scheduled matches with the pressure to deliver all wins to place them way ahead of the stubborn Lens who have not lost any of their past 6 matches, with one draw.

“Many thanks to my colleagues and all the people of the club for the welcome they gave me. We’re back and looking forward to continuing to meet the goals of this season, now with PSG.” Messi is seeming ready!
