Second edition of Michael Olunga Football tournament is set to bring back hope in local football ahead of the festive session as most of the local teams who did not get a a chance in the previous season have a chance to show case their talent at the tournament spotlight.
Sixteen teams were selected to participate in the tournament an addition of eight teams from the eight who were present last season.
The tournament is a five day event and it is still on the Knockout rounds to determine which teams will enter the finals on saturday.
Speaking to Mariko Abwao Organizing secretary of Michael Olunga tournament says that the last edition involved eight teams but due to the great reception by the fans and the pressure from those teams that felt they were left out in the previous competition was all the motivation they needed to bring back the tournament.
Teams participating in the tournament are from three wards Babadogo ward, lucky summer ward and Korogosho ward which include Torrin legends, Wazee,Ruaraka sports, Ipl, St John fc, Paparaze,Lucky summer catalions,Lucky summer worriors, Babadogo youngstars,Babadogo babes,Homeboyz,Faith christians Turf run, rodnye strikers,Riverside youths and Babadogo united who were the winners of the last edition.
Coach of Babadogo Babes Moses Otieno says that the game level has increased cause teams have put more effort by bringing up new players and tactics to the tournament as of last season.
“This season is not easy new teams have joined in and players want to get more involved with the game.”he adds.
