Millions Lost In Fire Incident, Traders Suspect Business Rivalry


A section of business people in Migingo, Kilimani ward in Dagoretti North Constituency is counting losses following an overnight fire incident that razed down their business premises.

Speaking to Ghetto radio today, victims of the said that they have been receiving thereats from their counterparts and some residents to vacate the area.

“We are at Kilimani ward Seko area and they called at midnight informing us that our kiosks are being burnt down by fire,” cried a trader.

“We must say that we have been receiving threats to vacate this place to pave way for our colleagues who claim that we have been blocking their businesses. Some residents also claim that we are blocking their way,” stated one victim who  requested to keep her name confidential.

Victims of the incident claim that they had just restocked their businesses the previous day.

“We have lost a lot of money we are on a great loss. The first kiosk the owner usually sells mogoka and he had just expanded his business by introducing other goods like soda and bread the previous day. A hotel has also been burnt down,” she added.

Majority of the affected victims say that it was a set up  and hence they request county government to compensate them.

“We are urging the county government to support us with capital to start other businesses,” cried another victim.
