Mombasa family in agony over kin’s abduction

A family in Mombasa is in agony following the abduction of their kin a week ago around Samburu area along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
Nyondo Chaka, who works as a truck driver was abducted by unknown people on 26th January 2021 at around 7:30 am on his way to Mombasa.
His brother Juma Chaka said the 40-year-old was abducted on Tuesday after his truck was surrounded by three vehicles.
Juma said that his brother’s mobile phone was switched off immediately after the abduction.
“We have reported the incident at Samburu police station, Central Mombasa and Taru but we have not received any report,” said Juma.
Nyondo has four children; a form one student, one in class seven another in grade four and the last born.
Human rights group Haki Africa Deputy Chief Executive Officer Salma Hemed said that they have received complaints from the family over the missing kin.
His truck was stopped at Samburu and the co-driver allowed to continue with the journey.
She said that four abduction cases have been reported for the last one month and now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene.
The four incidents were reported in Mombasa, Lamu and Garsen.
