More Stringent Measures For Matatu Owners Over Coronavirus

Matatu Operators will now be required to wash and fumigate their vehicles after every trip they have made.

Transport CS James Macharia gave the directives today adding that the operators must also ensure that they have hand sanitizers in their vehicles.

Macharia stated this even as President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed that Kenya has two additional cases of Coronavirus.

“Also make sure the buses are cleaned not in the morning and evening, but each time you come to the city and drop off passengers make sure you clean those buses,” said CS Macharia.

Macharia who described the situation as a matter of life and death  also stated that the same precautions are taken on trains.

Matatu Owners Association Chairman Simon Kimutai has also urged the government to intervene and have hand sanitizers availed at subsidized prices.
