More than 400 Police Officers Deployed In Starehe Ahead Of Elections

More than 400 security officers have been deployed to man polling stations in Starehe sub-county as the government moves to curb any form of lawlessness before, during and after General Elections slated for Tuesday next week.

Starehe Constituency has got 258 polling stations  each being manned by two armed officers.

Starehe Sub-county  Deputy County Commissioner Jacob Ouma says the area is well mapped and they will ensure every corner is secured.

“We have Adequate police officers because for example Starehe has got 258 polling stations and in every polling station we have two armed security officers accompanying and taking care of the electoral officials. Outside the centers we will have officers to ensure public order within their accesses we have drawn officers from prison service, Kenya Wildlife Services among other security agencies  just to ensure all is in order,” Ouma told Ghetto Radio News.

He has however, warned Starehe constituency politicians against instigating any form of violence saying the same will be met with  full force of the law.

“I am very clear on the issue of security in this area, whether goons or any other politician who will imagine that it is business as usual it will be business unusual.There will be no goons because any person who attempts to behave in a manner likely to cause breach of  peace within and outside the precincts of a polling station will be handled head on, they will be arrested, they will be taken to the police station and they will be arraigned in court. We also have some officers in normal patrols so I want to assure you that all is well.”
