Mourinho’s Mystery at Stamford Bridge Persists

Manchester United manager Jose

Jose Mourinho’s second trip to Stamford Bridge this season  continued with another humiliating defeat as Manchester United were knocked out of FA Cup by Chelsea on Monday night.

The blues remained firmly on course for a domestic Double as N’Golo Kante scored the only goal early in the second half to dump Manchester United out of the FA Cup in a quarter final stage. Manchester United are the current holders of the cup but they were overpowered by Antonio Conte guided side.

As seen in most cases,United manager Jose Mourinho was yet again  involved in touchline clashes with opposite number Antonio Conte .The incident saw the  Portuguese tactician being   verbally abused by Chelsea fans.

Mourinho was furious when midfielder Ander Herrera was sent off 10 minutes before half-time following a second foul on Eden Hazard. It was rough game on Conte’s men as moments later Marcos Alonso tumbled to the floor after being brought down.

Manchester United suffered a crisis of lack of defenders as the situation forced Marcus Rashford to camo off his sick bed to take the responsibilities. Zlatan Ibrahimovic remained suspended; Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial were sidelined for injuries.

However, Rashford created United’s best chance for himself but Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois was up to task as he saved with his feet to set up a semi-final against Tottenham at Wembley.

Jose Mourinho has failed to win against Conte as his  first return to Stamford Bridge after he was sacked as Chelsea manager ended in humiliation with a 4-0 defeat in October .

Mourinho had his say on Herrera’s red card and the defeat at the bridge for the second time in a season, “I don’t speak [about the red card]. I just want to say that I’m really proud of my players and Manchester United fans .Everybody can analyze from different perspectives but we all watch the match until the red card and after the red card. So we can compare the decisions of the two yellow cards, in this case with others which were not given,” he said.

Chelsea will play Totenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final on 23rd April .The fixture brings together two London bigwigs in contention for the final pot.
