Mowlem Police Officers Kill 28 Year Old Man In Cold Blood

A family in Mowlem, Nairobi is demanding for justice after one of their members was allegedly shot dead by the police over the weekend under mysterious circumstances.

According to the family, the 28 year old Dono Yayo was riding on a motorbike from Kiamaiko when he arrived at the gate and was accosted by the officers who were pursuing him from behind.

“Those officers were like pursuing him from behind because they both arrived from behind, they ordered him to surrender and before he could make any move one of the officers shot him in the chest. At this moment the wife was running towards the gate after he heard a commotion. After doing this barbaric act the officers left unapologetically,” Yayos’ brother told Ghetto Radio News.

“Our brother has left behind two kids and a widow am telling you it is painful, Yayo was a breadwinner to this family a big lose indeed,” he added.

The lobby groups have called on speedy  opening of the investigation file  by  Independent Policing Overnight Authority so that the police officers who were involved can be brought to book.

“It is shameful that a police officer can kill an innocent citizen thereafter tell us that it was a mistaken identity. They all knew what they were doing and they must take responsibility. We have contacted Mowlem OCS and he clearly told us that it was a mistake,” Adan Manyala of Korogocho Justice Peace Center told Ghetto Radio News.

Sources say that the police also were riding a motorcycle as they drove off after the incident.

The police who denied to comment on the matters adding that investigations are being conducted by the Buruburu and Dandora DCI officers.

Yayo was yesterday buried at Langata cemetery under Muslim customs.
