Elvis Muigwa emerged victorious in the 2024 NCBA Faldo Series Kenya Championship, winning by two strokes at the Karen Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.

On a challenging day for most competitors, Muigwa shot three over par 72, finishing the tournament with a score of four over par 218.

His closest rival, Shashwat Harish, finished at six over par 220. Muigwa, who was third after the first round, climbed to the top in the second round and maintained his lead in the final round to secure the championship.

“I’m so happy now because I knew I had the potential to win. I’ve been playing more competitive events that have helped me gain more confidence, and I’m really pleased with this victory.

Coming into the last day of the tournament, I knew I had one mission: to dominate and play my best to take the tournament,” said Muigwa.

In the girls’ category, Bianca Ngucu finished as the top performer with a score of 230, placing her ninth overall. Despite being in the top three after the first two rounds, the pressure of competing alongside Muigwa and Harish proved challenging.

“They are obviously very good golfers, and they put a lot of pressure on me because they were sinking birdies while I was just trying to make my pars, but I tried my best,” Bianca shared.

Bianca, who won the girls 16 and under category, is among four junior golfers heading to the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club in the UAE for the Grand Final. Joining her is Antonia Mbuthia, who won the girls 21 and under category with a score of 253, and Shashwat Harish, who narrowly missed the overall title but secured his spot in the Middle East as the winner of the boys 16 and under category.
