Veteran singer Daud Mustafa popularly known as Colonel Mustafa has met with Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

Photos of the two are doing rounds on social media having a handshake while enjoying a brotherly embrace as their faces are lit with delight at the latter’s office.

The purpose of the meeting is still scanty but it can be traced to Mustafa’s financial woes coupled with his mother’s cancer ailment.

The former Nairobi diaries actor has been the talk of the town since his video working at a construction site went viral.

Mustafa maintained that he had hit rock bottom after he sold his car, invested part of the money in his music career which failed to yield much.

The remaining part of it was consumed by his mother’s sickness.

Left with no option and with friends distancing themselves he had to choose the hardest and the only, mjengo job.

Unperturbed, he put his celebrity status aside and took up the menial job which he did for a year before the viral video.

One would question how he did it for that long unnoticed.

However, Mustafa maintained that he would hide his tattoos using long sleeved outfits, don a hoodie and patch a face mask.

Ever since going viral which was against his wish, he has attracted well wishers who have offered him financial assistance not only for his upkeep but also his mother’s medication.

Indeed, whoever shot the video thought he was humiliating Mustapha but it turned out to be his turning point.

The Rise Of Maloko

When he sold his car, Mustafa invested heavily on the song ‘Maloko’ which he thought would his biggest break in the music industry.

However, it flopped only amassing a paltry 300 views when it premiered 10  months ago.

This would see him drown into depression as he had tagged his hopes on the song.

But now the tide seems to have changed, in just the few days Mustafa has been trending, the song ‘Maloko’ has already amassed more than 100k views on YouTube and still counting.

It’s the only song on his channel which has close to 10k subscription.

Initially, Mustafa stated that he had bid farewell to music following the disappointment.

However in a twist turn of events he said that he’s preparing a song to thank Kenyans for their gratitude towards him and his ailing mother.

From then on, he would weigh on whether to hang up his microphone or to continue.
