Nadia Mukami on why she stopped going to the gym

Kenyan musician Nadia Mukami has opened up on her motherhood journey further revealing how she managed to continue with music.

The musician says that she tried going back to the gym to keep fit but ended up hurting herself due to tough exercises.

The mother of one went ahead and said that she will not allow herself to be pressured by the internet on her weight.

“I’ve once gone to the gym and my wound started becoming painful so I had to put a pause and then you’ll find people saying, ‘Oh, you’ve put on weight’ but I know I’m not putting pressure on myself because I have a wound. So I am doing the simple exercises, like walking or if I’m in the gym, I am just doing the treadmill only. There’s no need to give myself pressure then I go back in for another surgery,” Nadia said.

The musician also said that she has added weight because she wanted her son to get enough milk while breastfeeding.

“I had never been heavier than 55 kg but now I am 63 kg because I am breastfeeding exclusively so I have to eat a lot every now and then. It is a sacrifice because I don’t want to lack milk. Breastfeeding is work and it’s not as easy as it seems. Actually, you gain more weight during breastfeeding than during pregnancy,” Nadia added.

The singer previously said that she will not allow motherhood journey to make her stop her music career.
