Nairobi Assembly Azimio MCAs in a Tight Race For House Leadership Positions

Few days before opening of county assemblies, Nairobi MCAs are now on a heated race for house leadership position.

The Azimio la Umoja Coalition which forms the majority of the House will produce the speaker, Majority Leader, Majority Chief Whip and Budget and Finance Committees.

Those who have shown interest for Speaker position include former Deputy Speaker Ken Ngondi, former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh and outgoing speaker Benson Mutura.

Majority Leader’s seat has attracted Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok, Babadogo MCA Geoffrey Odhiambo Majiwa and South C MCA Abbas Khalif.

When we reached out to Imwatok he was adamant discussing the issue.

“Right now we are still focusing on how Baba can become the 5th president…but when the right time comes, The Azimio Coalition will decide on the coalition’s leadership but everyone is free to mobilize,” Imwatok told Ghetto Radio news on phone.

“Ogeto is somebody you can trust and with his experience he can make a great whip he has served two terms and now on his third term I think with this versed experience he is fit for the position,” an Azimio MCA told Ghetto Radio News.
