Nairobi County Assembly has passed a motion to have Nairobi County Government and the National Government construct Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions in every ward to boost skills and bridge the learning gap.

Addressing the media after plenary the  motion sponsor Mark Thiga of Hospital ward says the county can not impart  skills effectively when the County have only  four operational Technical Vocational Education and  Training  centers across the city.

He avers that the Gen Zs demonstrations was awake up call to leaders to  empower more youths.

“This motion will be a blessing to this County we must make sure that our capital city is equipped so that we can address the surging population of our youths who demand these skills. So am urging the County Government of Nairobi to move with speed and ensure we have new vocational training centers.” Mark said.

According to majority leader Peter Imwatok the County Government  must act  promptly and effect the motion without fail a move he describe will address partially demand in job creation and skill development.

“We must lead by example Nairobi is the Capital city of Kenya  with huge population but it is shocking that we have very few Technical Vocational Training centers in our County. We should therefore move  with speed and ensure that the skills gap is addressed.” Imwatok said.

Same were echoed by Caren MCA  Antony Maragu who called on governor Sakaja to implement the same.

“We are appealing to the executive side to implement this motion so that our youths can get these skills it is important the budget is there and we need action .” Maragu added.
