Mbagathi Way road in Kibra  sub-county could soon be renamed after ODM party boss Raila Amollo Odinga should a motion sponsored by Makongeni Member of county assembly Peter Imwatok pass.

In that notice of motion that is yet to be tabled Imwatok argues that Raila is a statesman, democrat and a leader who participated in creating the formidable infrastructure in the Kenya.

“Hon. Speaker I beg to give notice of the following motion that, aware  that the Country has a  history of conferring honours and recognition on its most outstanding citizens for their acts, deeds; COGNIZANT that these honours and recognition has extended not just medals and titles but the remaining of the roads and other public facilities ..OBSERVING that the Rt. Hon Raila Amollo Odinga has for the entire period of his adult life greatly impacted in the development of Kenyan state both democratically and economically,” the notice reads in part.

“NOTHING that in 2005 as the minister for roads and public works ,Raila Odinga conceived, planned and implemented masterpiece of infrastructures such as Thika Super Highway and Mbagathi concrete road which have proved to be the most durable roads ever in Kenya,” it reads in part.

Meanwhile in an interview, Imwatok says that the motion is only waiting for signatures from Deputy Speaker Geoffrey Majiwa who chaired a plenary session yesterday and the approval of acting Clerk Addah Onyango.

“It was to be tabled yesterday but it did not receive approvals from Majiwa who was the acting speaker and our acting clerk Addah Onyango…am planning to table it next week on Tuesday,” he told Ghetto Radio News on phone.

Through the assembly the famous Accra Road in Nairobi Central District was renamed after Kenneth Matiba a veteran politician in the country.

Dik dik road in Kileleshwa was named after COTU boss Francis Atwoli amid heated criticism.
