Nairobi Azimio MCAs Reject Governor Sakaja’s Mombasa Trip

Nairobi Assembly Azimio MCAs have turned down an invite for a trip to Mombasa by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja that has been scheduled this weekend.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News Peter Imwatok who is part of Azimio leadership cautioned Sakaja about the meeting saying it is untimely since the Azimio MCAs are still following proceedings at the Supreme Court where their candidate and leader Raila Odinga is contesting the outcome of the presidential elections.

“We have clear instructions from our coalition about that Sakaja caucus… we are still in  court challenging the presidential petition and we have no time to caucus to discuss issues of assembly speaker. He can do that with his UDA team,” he said.

His deputy Moses Ogeto of Kilimani ward on the other hand questioned the source of funds for the Mombasa trip organized by the governor.

“That is a UDA affair and our members are very religious no one actually attend we would really want to know whether taxpayers money was spent on people who have not been sworn in as MCAs or not…and if the governor is spending taxpayers’ money looking for speaker position for UDA then it is against the spirit of the constitution and PFM Act,” Ogeto added.

Meanwhile Mountain View ward MCA Maurice Ochieng’ on the other hand has asked Sakaja to sober up to stop petty politics.

“I can’t attend such we have not even sworn in what’s the hurry for our leader is still court …the message going around is Team Sakaja to meet in Mombasa are we still in politics?” Maurice asked.

The swearing in of the MCAs is expected next week with both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza coalitions battling for the speaker position which is very key for Sakaja.
