Nairobi county assembly has allocated 1 million per ward in the supplementary budget to fight the spread of COVID-19.
According to Mountain View MCA Maurice Ochieng,’ the funds will help members of the assembly to engage their residents directly by providing them with essentials in the fight against the deadly virus.
‘‘We have that amount in the supplementary budget that we passed but we are still waiting for that bill to be signed by the governor so that we can access the funds.’’ He said.
The bill will become effective automatically after 14 days which are to elapse this week.
He further indicated that they have agreed with Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company to put water tanks 50 meters apart along Thiongo road a move he says will help in improving sanitation in the area.
‘‘We have agreed with Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company to put for us 3000 liters tanks from today but we shall be providing water and sanitizers so that residents can wash their hands without difficulties as we fight this pandemic,’’ he added.
