Nairobi County government has criticised the Hawkers Bill planning to legitimize hawking business in the country.

The Bill which has been introduced by Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria has been termed as unfair by Nairobi County City Inspectorate Tito Kilonzi.

Kilonzi says if passed the Bill might cause disorder.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio NewsKilonzi says the hawking business is a result of unemployment problem, that can not be addressed through legislation.

According to him Nairobi county will not allow any hawker to set foot in the Central Business District and those who will defy that will be arrested and charged.

He says the county government  has set aside the Mwariro land near Kariokor for construction of a market that will only  accommodate hawkers in the CBD.
