Nairobi County Government Renames Mbagathi Way to Raila Odinga Way


The County Government of Nairobi and the Nairobi Metropolitan Services have effected the renaming of Mbagathi Way to Raila Odinga Way as passed by the County Assembly of Nairobi on October 12th 2021.

Yesterday the NMS team led by Engineer Michael Ochieng’ led a team and put up the Raila Way sign.

The motion was sponsored by Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok who also doubles up as Minority Chief Whip.

“Yeah am happy to receive the information that the Nairobi Metropolitan Services  and entire County Government of Nairobi is on this matter and according to the information they are preparing the ground for the official launch next week and it will be big,”Hon Imwatok told Ghetto Radio News on phone.

 “We also talked to the acting governor Ann Kananu on phone and she assured me that this will be a big function just to honour Baba for the things he has done for this country,” he added.


The motion was supported by more than 65 MCAs who debated on it and approved the same.

“Hon. Speaker I beg to give notice of the following motion that, aware  that the Country has a  history of conferring honours and recognition on its most outstanding citizens for their acts, deeds; COGNIZANT that these honours and recognition has extended not just medals and titles but the remaining of the roads and other public facilities ..OBSERVING that the Rt. Hon Raila Amollo Odinga has for the entire period of his adult life greatly impacted in the development of Kenyan state both democratically and economically,” the motion stated.

 “Renaming Mbagathi to Raila Odinga is a great honour to him..I support it fully,” Clarence Munga of Kabiro Ward said.

“He is the one who initiated that road and the other regime did not honour him. The motion is timely and we thank members for supporting it fully,” Herman Azangu of Landi Mawe stated.
