The Nairobi County Government is tomorrow planning to hold a cleaning exercise in Nairobi’s Ngara area.
The cleaning exercise which is done annually will be conducted in partnership with the business community in Ngara.
Ngara ward Administrator Grace Ojiayo says that partnership with the business community will also help the members take responsibility of their environment and ensure that it is clean.
“The clean up exercise is an annual event launched by the governor when he took over office. We want to involve the business community in Ngara because they make the most numbers here,” stated Ojiayo.
“When we partner with them, we shall empower them and they will in turn ensure that Ngara is kept clean even after the exercise,” she stated.
The exercise comes against a backdrop of reports of garbage heaps filling the county of Nairobi.
The outcry has even made the National Environment Management Authority give the county a 48 hour ultimatum to clean up the mess.
