Residents of Soweto in Embakasi Central constituency today held demonstrations in protest against Nairobi county officials demand that they part with some fee before they are given the title deeds issued by President Uhuru last week.

The residents say some county government officials are demanding that they pay 30,000 shillings before they get title deeds to their pieces of land issued by the President when he visited the area last week.

The residents claim that the 30,000 shillings fee is a way to extort money from citizens for their selfish gains.

Uhuru last week the declared the documents free of charge adding that it was the citizens’ right to own title deeds.

The devastated protesters who majority are squatters claim the 30,000 shillings fee is too much for any of them to easily afford.
