As the country joins the rest of the world in marking World Water Day, water scarcity still remains a major challenge facing many communities.
In Mathare Mabatini slums, the residents say that they have gone for several days without water and many have been forced to dig deep into their pockets just to get water.
“Water still remain a challenge in Mathare Mabatini, we don’t have boreholes and we only depend on tap water that do not flow daily,” Mabatini resident told Ghetto Radio.
Meanwhile Ngara residents have also called on Nairobi Metropolitan Services to address the water shortage in the area which has lasted for about one month.
“It is world water day but we have nothing to celebrate in Ngara. For a period of one month, water has been so scarce and it has really affected our lives especially hotels in Nyayo market,” Peter Juma said.
