A Nairobi lobby group dubbed Social Public Interest Initiative has issued Nairobi City County a 7 days ultimatum to make public information and documents in form of per diem which were allocated to the Nairobi City County Finance department staff, Beth Muthoni Kasyoka for local and international trips.

The organization whose main aim is to bring accountability to taxpayers money,claims they have receive intelligence information that the said staff has been receiving exorbitant fees to attend trips since joining the Finance Department at Nairobi City County as an intern.

Documents availed to our reporters shading light on the said claims indicate that Beth Muthoni has been receiving Per diems ranging from a whooping KSHS 500,000 to 1,000,000 to facilitate her trips which she has been attending since being an intern. The organisation through their Advocates wrote to the Nairobi City County seeking answers on the blatant misuse of public resources by invoking article 35 of the constitution of Kenya, 2010 on the right /access to information.

The organisation has raised concern over the matter reiterating that such actions have been the core of corruption in the county leading to embezzlement of public funds that are supposed to serve taxpayers.

Embattled Beth is said to have been making international trips to Dubai, Kampala, Arusha among other countries.

In the letter, the organisation requested The Chief Officer Finance and the County Secretary to provide all documentation on all the trips attended by MS Beth Muthoni on behalf of the county, detailed information on all the monies received for the facilitation of the trips and the person who authorized the release of the money and provide evidence that Ms Beth Muthoni attended all the trips

The organisation through their Advocates have stated that should they not receive the aforementioned information and documentation within 7 days, they will proceed to Court and seek any other legal redress to address the rot in Nairobi City County
