Utalii Ward residents in Ruaraka constituency are decrying lack of development and proper representation by their current MCA Wilson Ochola.
The residents claim that the MCA has neglected them ever since he expressed his interest of vying for a higher political seat in Nyakach Constituency in Kisumu County.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News, Johnte Gathemba a resident of Utalii ward accused the MCA of taking development projects to the Nyakach Constituency in Kisumu County where he is planning to vie in 2022.
They also say that Ochola has grabbed back some of the water tank projects and car wash materials he had given the youth during the campaign time in 2017 and taken them to Nyakach.
“In 2017 during the campaigns, Ochola bought us several water tanks, he unfortunately came on one night and took them all and transported them to Nyakach,” said Gathemba.
“Another stalled project that he has refused to complete is the toilets projects he had started just immediately after he had been elected,” he narrates.
Ochola has also been accused of importing youths from the said Nyakach constituency and giving them jobs in Sonko’s beautification programme and firing the voters of the Utalii ward.
The affected youth held demonstrations last year over the MCA’s highhandedness and were later reinstated by the governor.
The area youth have now vowed to make better choices come 2022 and elect a better leader who will better represent their needs and wants in the county assembly.
It was reported in June 2018 Ochola, a member of the the Power and Privileges Committee was caught in a scandal after he was accused together with his counterparts of receiving Sh. 1 Million bribe, to doctor a report in favour of AAR, an insurance firm offering medical cover to City Hall employees.
