Anti corruption court has today sentenced to 3 years in jail Karen MCA David Mberia for receiving KSh.1.7 million bribe.
Chief magistrate Thomas Nzioka in his ruling said the prosecution side proved beyond doubt that Mberia actually solicited for the bribed and received it.
Mberia his counterparts Mathare North MCA Jared Okode alias Defao and Woodley MCA Abraham Njiah were arrested in 2019 while receiving bribes from owners of Wachahi Kiragu school located in Pumwani ward.
Okode and Njia are however, off the hook. Judge Nzioka says the two were not involved directly.
Mberia now risks losing his seat should the integrity act be effected.
