Nairobi MCAs On Course With Sonko’s Impeachment
Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is now a man under siege, as a scheme to remove him from office is being hatched by both Jubilee members of the Assembly and their ODM counterparts.
ODM Leader Raila Amollo Odinga met ODM MCAs at Ole Polos Country Club in Kajiado County and reportedly told them to have a common stand on the governors fate and leadership in Nairobi.
ODM whip Peter Imwatok confirmed the meeting saying they have agreed to ‘clean’ Nairobi.
“As whip I can confirm that we had a meeting but we agreed to have sanity in Nairobi and the impeachment is in top gear…we are also mobilising like minded MCAs from Jubilee side and am telling you the support is overwhelming” Imwatok told Ghetto Radio News.
It’s also understood that section of Jubilee MCAs had a closed door meeting agenda being how to impeach the governor.
Meanwhile pro Sonko MCAs led by Doris Kanario have accused their colleagues supporting the impeachment motion of betrayal.
“It is true that even some Jubilee MCAs want the governor out and there was a meeting today at a Nairobi Hotel. This assembly shocks sometimes things were better before Guyo was ousted. He could have protect Sonko with everything” she said.
The governor is now walking on a tight rope with some MCAs trooping in his base to collect hand-outs to withdraw their signatures. Assembly is opening tomorrow and more is likely to happen.
