Nairobi MCAs Threaten To Shoot Down 2016-17 Budget
Nairobi MCAs have threatened to shoot down the 2016-17 budget if the county treasury fails to release Sh1.7 billion allocated for the Ward Development Fund.
The funds were set aside in the last two financial years, but the money has not been released due to legal complications after Controller of Budget Agnes Odhiambo said the WDF was not anchored in the law.
The ward reps have up to June 30 to approve the Sh36 billion 2016/17 budgetary estimates.
They said if the executive does not disburse the funds they will sabotage and paralyse the county’s operations.
