Nairobi Youth Robbed Opportunity To Nurture Sports Talent By Corrupt Officials and Land Grabbers

Football Kenya Federations Nairobi Branch Secretary General Dickson Doyo has lamented the lack of football pitches in the County saying that the situation is harboring the growth of the game.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio Sports Dickson Doyo said that land grabbing has denied the youth the opportunity to nurture their talent.

In 2018 Nairobi County initiated refurbishments of five stadiums setting aside Ksh 1 billion a project that has now put embattled Governor Nairobi County Mike Mbuvi Sonko in trouble.

Sonko who is currently facing an imminent impeachment has been accused among many other reasons the hyped Dandora Stadium at the center of his impeachment.

Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok who tabled the impeachment motion yesterday accused Sonko of inflating the Dandora Stadium by over Ksh. 100 Million.

Imwatok has also accused Sonko of irregularly procuring the tender for the construction work of the stadium to a firm associated with an influential politician.

“The stadium used to be very busy with activities as we hosted most of our matches here, the delay in the completion has led to congestion of fixtures,” he said.

“We were hoping to use the venue to host high profile matches among them international games besides the local matches,” he complained.

Besides Dandora, Other stadia like Ziwani Grounds in Starehe, Woodley in Kibra, Riruta in Kawangware and Kiumbuini were also to be upgraded.
