National Youth Council has now raised concerns over growing number of youths who have been affected mentally saying Covid-19 pandemic is to be blamed.
According to NYC Chief Executive Officer Roy Sasaka Telewa most youths have gone under a lot of stress after losing their jobs and that they need socio-economic support to have them back to normal life.
NYC will now conduct Mental Health Wellness Week starting 22nd to 26th February, 2021 to help those affected.
‘‘Youths are going through a lot they have lost jobs, they can’t feed themselves at all because of this pandemic. As a council we want to champion the mental wellness we have partnered with various stakeholders including KBL and Spread Truth Africa just to ensure we run this programme for the benefit of our youths,’’ Telewa said.
‘‘Through our program DRINKIQ we think that this is the best time to partner with NYC to champion for responsible drinking. We encourage youths to drink responsibly but not to use alcohol to cure stress,’’ Jack Zach Munyi from KBL said.
Spread Truth Africa also supported the programme to the tune of 1.6 million shillings.
