National Youth Service trucks have been deployed to Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo’s area and Majengo slums in a bid to kick off a cleaning exercise of the dilapidated region.
The trucks which started early morning today were reportedly deployed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director general Maj-Gen Mohamed Badi.
The fleet of more than five trucks and a bulldozer immediately started commenced the work of clearing garbage that had even piled up on the roads.
Area residents had earlier on lamented to Ghetto Radio News about the garbage menace that had flooded the roads and had even threatened to take over the legendary Kamukunji grounds.
Maj-Gen Badi officially took over the running of Nairobi today after he was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.
