Over 700 traders at Nyayo market affected by the weekend fire that razed down their properties into ashes have now started to reconstruct the stalls in a bid to get back to business.
But according to them they do not have money to start off the businesses saying the damage was massive and it will take time for them to recover fully.
The Traders’s Secretary Peter Juma Ochieng says the new structures are just picking spaces to keep off land grabbers.
‘‘Yes some of us have statarted puting structure but not all we are just keen to make sure that our spaces are reserved as we look for money to restart again,’’ he said.
Meanwhile the traders have been urged to stay calm and wait for the division of the Ksh. 9 Million shillings given by the president.
‘‘We finished writing names of the affected individual and we came with 761 people in the list.. I have talked to DDC Starehe Mr. Macharia and he has said we should be calm down and wait for the to finish the processes as the money will be out soon,’’he said.
