Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has broken the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”.

Monday morning, The 27-year-old chef, smashed more than 85 hours.
The journey began On Thursday at exactly 4 pm Hilda launched into the competition – and went on to cook hundreds of meals and serve thousands of customers over a historic four-day marathon.
Hilda is still carrying on as she aims to cook for 96 hours (9 hours more than she had initially planned) setting a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such a staggering amount of time cooking.
For over 80 hours, a sprightly Hilda cooked on, only taking a 30-minute break and then carrying on with her goal – all while standing and taking no sleep.

As the famous chef goes about her activities, Nigerians are still gathered around to support her.
The restaurant has continued to receive a wave of support from Nigerian government officials, tons of celebrities, clerics, and other well-meaning Nigerians many of whom trooped to the Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos where she has been cooking from to show support. This is even as Nigerians stood by her despite a heavy downpour in the wee hours of Monday.
Early Monday morning, hundreds of supporters braved a heavy downpour and shouted praise as they gathered to watch her cook. .
Notable celebrities such as Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Charles Okocha, Tiwa Savage all stormed the cooking venue in Lagos to show their support and offer support to the Chef.
On Twitter, Burna Boy shared her photo, tweeting, “Go Hilda. We are rooting for you to break that record. And I trust say the food go sweet die!”
