Night revelers in Nakuru County on Saturday night threw beer bottles at police officers who attempted to arrest them for flouting the Covid-19 protocols.
The revelers who were making merry at the Sebs Nightclub and restaurant also switched off the lights in a bid to evade arrest.
Nakuru Town East sub-county commander Elena Kabukuru said officers were forced to lobe tear gas into the club during the crackdown at 11.30pm.
At least 86 revelers were arrested while over 100 others, mostly men managed to escape.
According to Kaburu apart from defying curfew almost all revelers had flouted the Covid-19 protocols like social distancing and not wearing masks.
“The suspects have all been booked and will be charged on Monday and the license of the club confiscated,” Kabukuru said.
