The Nairobi Metropolitan Service has been put on the spot over the growing heaps of garbage in various Nairobi estates.

A section of Pipeline Estate residents who spoke to Ghetto Radio News accused NMS of maintaining cleanliness in the CBD while neglecting the estates and down town areas of Nairobi.

The residents say that the garbage heaps have cost them their businesses as some people are repelled by the smelling garbage.

“I sell vegetables here and everyday I pack my stuff without making any sales because clients are repelled by this garbage,” said one businesswoman.

The residents claim that the garbage heaps have been there for more than one month.

“I am a butcher here and this garbage has been here for more than a month. It keeps growing everyday,” stated another businessman.

“We are appealing to NMS to come and collect this garbage failure to which we shall move the garbage to the road because we are suffering,” he stated.

Huruma, Ziwani and Kariobangi estates are some of the estates that are grappling with the garbage menace.
