Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) has now banned students from having dreadlocks or even wearing miniskirts.
In a memo dated 5th January 2023, the students have been ordered to comply with the new code of dressing .
“All University students are required to comply with the university code of dressing and wear appropriate attire during the study, at meal times in the dining hall and in all University functions,”read part of the memo.
Tumbo cuts,bareback,tight trousers,see through clothes among other revealing clothes have been banned.
Additionally, Students having dreadlocks,plaited hair, earrings, will also not be accepted at the University of higher learning.
“The Dean of students wishes to encourage all students to adopt a style of dressing and appearance that would be accepted in the various fields of work and society in general,”The memo signed by Esther Mbaabu, the Dean of Students at the University read.
