National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has today awarded 11 athletes with scholarships ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The scholarship worth Ksh. 27 million is aimed at supporting the athletes for three years as they compete against others to earn themselves points for entry into the Paris Olympic games.
“I am very grateful to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya for this chance, I know it is a coveted chance and I do not take it lightly since many would like to get it,” Priscilla Wangui from The Kenya Sports Shooting Federation stated.
She further states that she feels honored and that she will put in work to earn herself a spot in the Olympics and ultimately win.
“There is no higher grounds in sports other than the Olympics.”
Josette Njeri, a tri-athlete on the other hand stated that she will use the opportunity to go out and compete and hopefully earn herself enough points to raise her rankings and earn herself a spot for the Olympic Games.
The young tri-athlete also plans to use the opportunity for training in improving all her three disciplines that is swim and cycle which are her strongest two at the moment and running which is her weakest discipline.
