Nonini Threatens To Sue Company Over Copyright Infringement

Legendary Genge artist Nonini is threatening to sue an electronics company for copy right infringement of his old school hit song ‘We Kamu.’

The electronics company going by the name Syinix Electronics have allegedly used Nonini’s tune without his consent in their recent advertisement featuring digital creator Brian Mutinda and Stacey Atieno.

“Syinix Electronics decided to do a very brilliant advert using my song WeKamu. The only problem is they didn’t ask for permission,” wrote Nonini.

The ‘Furahiday’ hitmaker goes on to ask musicians to always know how to defend their rights adding that the music industry makes money from copyrights and any infringement leaves them counting losses.

“Music rightsholders know how to defend their rights, and not having a sync license puts your company at risk. The music industry earns its revenue from copyrights and so music rights holders please take legal action against any form of infringement,” Nonini added.

The musician listed a set of legal instructions to be followed in such cases while mentioning that they can settle the issue out of court if the infringing party admits their mistake since he has already sent the complaint to Syinix Electronics.
