NTSA To Kick-Off Boda Boda Registration Next Week

The National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA will start issuing riding licenses to boda boda operators from 21st April.

According to Boda boda Safety Association of Kenya BAK chairman Kevin Mubadi they are currently engaged in mass registration of Boda boda riders to saccos before they take their driving course.

“To those who have licenses please you still need a fresh registration with NTSA do that at the Huduma centers but you are required to take riding course a fresh, ” Mubadi told Ghetto Radio News on phone.

Mubadi on the other hand stated that those who will be taking riding courses at private institutions will cater for their fees and that the government is only waiving licensing charges at NTSA.

“There has been a lot of confusion on the issue of who to pay the riding course. The directive from government is that we take the riding course at the National Youth Service facilities not private institutions. If you to take your course at a private driving school then you will pay for yourself,” Mubadi said.

Meanwhile he applauded the boda boda riders for upholding integrity on the road after they were allowed to resume operations.
“It was a difficult moment for us but we want to applaud our colleagues for abiding with traffic rules and minding other motorists when operating …we will support the government and weed out criminals amongst us,” he added.
