Nubians In Kibra Now Want ID Cards
A section of the Nubian Community in Makina ward, Kibera slums now wants the government to issue them with Identification Cards so that they can be registered for Huduma Number.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News Mama Abdallah says her daughter who is currently fifty years of age does not have an ID and has struggled for it in her entire life in Kibra making it an obstacle to register Hudu ma Number.
“My daughter is the greatest victim,50 years without an ID, what can you do? She was told by chief and registration officers to provide IDs of her late grandparents… We don’t have such documents” she said.
Meanwhile Nubians Right Forum chairman Shaffie Hussein has given the court a notice of an appeal against the ruling of the high court that gives Huduma Number registration process a clean bill of health.
“A big percentage of Nubians is not registered in the Huduma Number because we don’t have IDs it’s discrimination and we have given a notice of appeal against the ruling that was issued.” Shaffie said.
