HUDUMA NUMBER STALEMATE NUBIANS
The Nubians in Kibra slums have now threatened to boycott the on-going Huduma Namba registration exercise citing discrimination and harassment .
Addressing the media today Nubians Community Rights Forum chairman Ali Hussein says that a larger number of the Nubians in the area have not registered because they do not have their identification cards, and those who have are subjected to intelligence vetting.
Hussein says the move is unconstitutional and is a clear indicator that the government does not obey court orders.
‘‘We are suffering the kind of vetting harassment what we are going through is tiresome. Thi means if something it is not done promptly then we shall not participate in it, how can you subject Nubians to intelligence vetting even after producing an identification card?’’ He lamented.
He further asked interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang to move with speed and help the Nubian community who are being harassed in Kibra.
‘‘Matiangi just come in Kibra and see the kind of treatment our peope receive here and compare the same with Masaai in Namanga. You will be shocked, it is a clear demonstration of gross abuse of power ,impunity and a bad precedent.’’ He said.
They were addressing journalists at their office in Makina Kibra.
Meanwhile about 12.5 million Kenyans have been registered in the whole country.
