Nubian residents in Kibra Constituency have threatened to take action against Sarangombe MCA Lawrence Otieno’s claims that they are the ones who burnt down Toi Market.
The Nubians through the Nubian Rights Forum Chairman Shafi Hussein claim that Lawi’s remarks are defamatory and inciteful.
“The community is hurt with what Sarang’ombe’s MCA Lawi said. Lawi’s statements are defamatory and should not come from a leader,” said Shafi.
According to Shafi, Nubians are descendants of Kibra and Toi market and there is no way they are going to burn down the market.

“We are the main beneficiaries of Toi market and we cannot burn it down. Toi market is in Kibera and Kibera land belongs to Nubians. We are not here to fight anybody but we want everybody to know that we Nubians own Toi market and no one should demarcate us referring to us as arsonists,” he added.
The community is now expecting the former Prime Minister Hon. Raila Odinga to take a strong action against Sarangombe MCA since he is elected on ODM ticket and he made the statement in his presence.
