Nurses Call Off Strike

It is a relief for patients across the country after nurses called off a nine-day strike after reaching a deal with the government.

The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) through it Secretary General, Seth Panyako, called off the strike on Wednesday, December 13 after a meeting with officials from the Council of Governors and the Ministry of Health.

“We are very happy that we have reached an agreement and what we have discussed will be handled in the Collective Bargaining Agreement talks beginning January 2017.” Stated Panyako who called off the deal said.

Earlier on the negotiating team led by Panyako had walked out of the negotiating table with CS Mailu and the council of governors with Panyako stating that he was ready to go to jail.
