Nyayo Estate residents protest against telephone boosts

Conflict has now erupted between the Nyayo estate residents Embakasi and Itron Company over  the on-going installation of masts popularly known as telephone boosters in spaces reserved as play grounds and for hosting estate parties.

Led by Nyayo Estate Residents Association vice chairman Victor Okwemba they  claim they were not  involved fully before the instatllations yet the boosters have  adverse health effects to them.

They have also petitioned National Environmental  Management Authority and Nairobi city county government demanding answers  on who authorised the project in the area.

The residents are also in court seeking orders stopping the installation untill the matter is well addressed.

Nyayo estates has 5000 house units hosting about twenty thousand residents.

Some of the diseases associated with the masts include cancer and skin conditions.
