Nyong’o Signs Ksh. 30 Billion Food Security Deal

Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has signed a Ksh. 30 Billion agricultural deal with a UK firm.

The deal between United Green and Kisumu County 42 Lake Ventures Company is expected to boost agriculture and food security in the entire lake region.

Nyong’o has described the investment as one that will revolutionise food production and general agriculture.

“Signed a milestone partnership between a UK’s,United Green and Kisumu County 42 Lake ventures Company. This US$250 Million (Ksh 30b) agriculture and food security investment programme will revolutionise food production and general Agriculture in the entire Lake region,” announced the governor.

Among the industries set to be revived are the cotton industry, dairy and fish production in the country.

Speaking during the signing event on Tuesday, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o said that the partnership will provide new markets for farmers in the rural areas through agri-fin-tech services.

“The high productivity climate-smart farming and state-of-the-art agro-industrial facilities will create new markets for farmers in the Lake Victoria basin region over the next five years,” said Nyong’o.
