Nyong’o Wants Kisumu Employers To Grant Employees Off Days To Register As Voters

0 356

Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has appealed to employers and the business community to grant their employees at least one day off work to enable them register as voters.

Nyong’o says that voter registration is part of election preparation hence the need to grant unregistered employees time to register as voters.

“As you are aware, voter registration is part of preparation for the election. I therefore wish to appeal to the  employers and business community  within Kisumu County to grant permission to their employees for at least one day to enable them  register as a voter, at IEBC stations of their choices,” said Nyong’o.

Nyong’o has also urged those without Identity Cards to apply for the documents in the nearest registration bureaus.

“I am making this appeal because as much as we have been mobilizing our people to register as voters, those in employment have been unable to do this due to tight work schedules. Let us help our people enjoy and exercise their constitutional rights” he said.

The appeal comes just few days after IEBC Commission updated the country on the status of the National Enhanced Continuous Voters Registration (ECVR) exercise.
