Popular gengetone artiste Odi Wa Murang’a is facing an uphill task of becoming Murang’as Governor come 2022 with many viewing him as a jocker.

In one of his recent interview the ‘Diana’ Singer disclosed that he was going for the top seat in a bid to bringing the youth to the table after years of neglect.
“By the way hio ndio point nimekuwa nikingojea sana kwa hii interview manzee, So manze unajua mi nimegrow Murang’a so najua Murang’a kutoka kila corner hadi ile ingine unacheki, na kuna venye nimekuwa nikicheki mayut man manze tume neglectiwa sana na ikifika time ya kupatana pale kwa ballot unacheki mayut man wao hujitokeza wengi lakini ikifika mmechagua msee flani huwa unapata huyo msee anafika pale anawasahau,”Said Odi Wa Murang’a.

A fortnight ago he took to his Instagram and thanked some unnamed sponsors who had his back for the gubernatorial seat.
“Thanks For All The Sponsors Who Came Through To Help Me Run For Murang’a Governorship 2022 Even Though They Wish To Remain Anonymous. Mayut Hii Ndio Time We Make Murang’a New Again!!! In God We Trust. HATUPANGWI TENA MURANG’A!!! wrote Odi Wa Murang’a.Despite Odi’s bold move the comment section filled with hillarious comments with many seeing his dream as far fetched. “Amsheni huyu atakojoa ati anaota akiwa governor wa wapi??,” wrote one user.

“Woi hapo ndio bangi imekuchocha ???,” wrote another user.
However others had a different opinion and cheered him on.
“I will campaign for you ?tunataka pia sisi mayut tuwakilishwe tembea Murang’a sasa kwanza kahuro mugoiri,” shot one user.

Odi Wa Murang’a is synonymous with singing lewd lyrics known as gengetone which gained notoriety at a time the Kenyan music industry was fighting an influx of foreign music mostly Bongo Flava and Naija Music.
From entertainment spots to public transport vehicles the songs made their way like bush fire.

Moral cop Ezekiel Mutua at one point came out and urged the artists to clean their content as they were swaying the generation the genre should be banned totally.
